Suddenly I’m 22 Again

I’ve been listening to a James Bonamy CD for the last hour while cooking dinner. I’m not normally a country music kind of gal, but I have a soft spot in my heart for this album.

When I listen to it, I’m back in Oklahoma on the turnpike between Tulsa and Stillwater. It’s 1996 again and Craig has just proposed *sigh*. On that 90 mile trek between home and OSU, I would flip the radio station frequently just out of boredom. The game was that I had to listen to whatever came on for 90 seconds before I could switch, unless, of course, I liked what was playing in which case I’d keep listening.

One night I heard a clip of I Don’t Think I Will on one of the stations. The song was at the end, so, as much as I wanted to, I couldn’t hear the whole thing. I spent a good 5 or so car trips between school and home scanning country music stations trying to find that song again. It finally came on as I was entering Stillwater and I actually heard the artist. One of the best impulse buys I’ve ever done was to drive straight to Hasting’s Books/Music/Movie store and snap it up.

I don’t pull this CD out very often, but when I do, I suddenly feel like I’m 22 all over again. That’s a pretty nice feeling.

Little House in the Big Town

The girls are still into watching our Little House on the Prairie dvds we got for Christmas. This morning Maddie said, “I know – I’m going to call you (me) ‘Ma!’” Then Chloe said, “Yes! And let’s call Daddy, ‘Pa!’”

After collaborating for a bit they decided that Maddie could be Mary, Chloe could be Laura, and Katie could be Carrie. They wanted a part for Millie, but didn’t want to make her be the baby boy that died in season two, so they decided Millie could be Jack the dog. And our cats (Jo’s cats) are filling in for Nellie and Willie.

If only all our stuff would fit in one covered wagon – we might be able to get into this.
