Please be advised that when dining out and ordering a beverage, Long Island Iced Tea is not an iced tea drink at all. There is, in fact, absolutely no tea in this drink. And, if the restaurant you are dining at makes a serious mistake with your order and brings you a one-person pitcher of said drink instead of the normal glass, that it is most definitely not in your best interest to attempt to drink the entire thing. Particularly if you have the tolerance of a two-year-old.
Making this mistake could lead to a pretty significant three-second delay in your mental functioning, requiring you to hold on very tightly to your date on your way out of the restaurant in order to avoid running smack dab into the Lucky Penny vending machine in the middle of Union Station. (It will also require you to have to look up the spelling to the word penny when writing about it.)
I just wanted to make sure the rest of you knew this very important information. You know, just in case.

I don’t think I’ve partaken of a Long Island Iced Tea since, maybe, college. Definitely no tea involved.
Kinda makes you wonder what those Long Islanders are like, to have their home the namesake for a drink that packs such a punch!

well, i learned something today. i didn’t know it didn’t have ANY tea in it:) i’ll be that blew your points:) maybe they don’t count when you don’t know all that stuff is in it…yeah, that’s it. m

i’m not laughing AT you tho’ b/c i didn’t know long island iced tea was an alcohol drink until just a couple of years ago.

Consider it a blessing that your upbringing didn’t include bar hopping, I guess. (Sadly, my dad tried to bond by encouraging underage drinking at home and the Loch Ness Pub.)

Well, the points value of that drink alone is the least of my worries this weekend. I completely blew it, sometimes by choice, sometimes out of my control.
I’m back on today and will continue to conquer this! I love, though, that I’m fully functioning at the moment. I sleep so much better on nights like that… not like it happens that much, but still…

Too funny! I had a glass of wine when we went out for a double date and learned not to sip it quickly before the food comes. The room was very swimmy on only half a glass. 🙂 My dinner companions thought I was quite funny and talkative … probably the only time someone would classify me as “lively and full of vibrant conversation.” Hah.

I guess your dad & I neglected to give you the proper education for this sort of thing. The only way I would have known this, was because a co-worker on a business trip always ordered Long
Island Tea. I questioned her about what was in that made her like it so much. (Well, I guess you found out the hard way.) I’m thankful you didn’t get stopped by a Missouri Law Inforcement Officer. I’ll stick to my tea with orange spice as the kicker. Ha! I luv ya, M

I’m sorry for the confusion, but I will say that I LOVE long island iced tea. In college, when I would hang out with my friends who liked to drink, that was the only thing I ever liked. Although I never tried to finish a whole pitcher, in smaller doses, I found it to be quite pleasant.
