I Am the Dancing Queen

Disco Mama

Only no longer 17. But that’s a good thing, because if I were, I wouldn’t have Katie. She brought this picture to me while I was still sleeping yesterday morning and said, “I drew this picture for you, Mama. It’s you in a hat at a disco.”

If that isn’t a sure way to wake me up in the morning, there isn’t one.

    That is *magnificent* Megan!
Are those earrings, or your shoulders?
Our pediatrician once told me that kids who draw hands this way, big and open, are confident, well-balanced, ready to face the world. How about that?

    That’s hilarious!
PalmGirl is studying Spanish this year, and last week she came to me with a question about something in the workbook. She didn’t know what a “discoteca” was. I thought is was obvious, and told her “disco”. But she didn’t know what that was. I guess we’re not the disco type. Not like your family… ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t you think your blogging audience should know about your real dancing queen story? I seem to recall something about a highschool performance, dancing, costumes… Am I making this up?

Okay – Chelsea, let’s make sure everyone knows that *I* was not in drag (is that even possible?), but wore a modest top with my hula skirt. Let that be known.
And Jess… Ummm, wellll, errrrr… I don’t want to cause my faithful few blog readers to stumble or anything.
Consider yourself on the privileged inside scoop of that blast from my past that is better left buried…

I think Jess is recalling the time you were part of a high school lip-sync to the Right Said Fred song, “I’m Too Sexy (for My Shirt)”. Yes, now that I think about it, that’s definitely what she’s referring to.

Awww! That is so sweet. We are a “disco” family, too. My kids are probably among the few who know all the words to the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, which we listen to in the car all the time!
