Happy HFCS Day

From our family (Hermione Granger, Maddie; a St. Louis Cardinals Cheerleader, Chloe; the cutest Angel in the country who as of now still hasn’t earned her wings – somebody ring a bell already, Katie; one bouncy Tigger, Millie; and a Mom Who Has Her Act Together, Megan – my costume will be done tomorrow) to yours, we wish you a very happy and frenzied High Fructose Corn Syrup Day.

Be sure to take pics, since we can’t be there in person. Maybe they can bring their costumes to our house next week, and have a re-run of the night.
    See you all soon.

Chelsea, you’re right, of course: there are no cheerleaders for the Cards, though when we moved here two years ago it was the only thing M8 (then M6) wanted to be that year. So I made her a cheerleading costume with extra-lengthened skirt and appliqued CARDINALS across the front. She was an official-in-our-eyes Cardinals cheerleader. Someone usually winds up wearing that thing to the games when we go. C7 really wanted to wear it this year and it was easy for me – no prep except the iron and maybe not even that! 🙂

It isn’t even HFCS Day yet, and my kids have bags filled to the brim thanks to grandparents, church ladies and preschool. So, we may forgo the door-to-door tomorrow. Today, for the preschool party with its trip to the local banks, we had a fireman and a purple kitty. I am sure you can guess which kid was which. Have a good one.

The Cards have cheerleaders? We’ve got The Doctor, age 8; The Poodle Skirted 50s Girl, age 6; and The Fireman (complete with water-squirting extinguisher) age 3.9. We haven’t been trick-or-treating in 3 years since, inevitably, someone gets a fever or vomits that day. Here’s hoping for a joyful and uneventful candy bash.

Happy Reformation Day from a Monkeefan for Christ, age 26!
Last year the Writing Center became Hogwarts, and one of my best friends was Hermione. I dropped in to say hi, wearing my Jesus Movement duds, and felt rather like a character in one of those awful Christian-goes-to-Hogwarts fanfics. 😀

I was really trying to convince Shaylea to be Hermione so I could dress Joseph up like Hedwig. That woulda been so sweet.
She chose 50’s Girl and Joseph wanted to be Larry the Cucumber. Meh.

Happy HFCS Day to you, too!
I hope the candy lasts until tomorrow night here. It keeps calling my name! 🙂
We have Dwight K. Schrute from The Office age 15 and a medieval princess age 13. And, yes, I think they’re getting a little old for this…
