Seems like I was just saying, "Another year, another list." Ditto that.
January
Home by Marilynne Robinson – A companion novel to Gilead
, not a sequel, but definitely related. Such a great way to kick off the new year. Her writing is completely amazing and I'm seriously thinking about rereading Gilead now. It's been about four years (which is hard to believe, but true). Excellent.
Carry On, Mr. Bowditch
by Jean Lee Latham – Part of our Sonlight reading this year. Sadly it took us forever to read it because we started it before all the Christmas chaos and then lost it somewhere in the midst of the Christmas chaos. Finally found it again in January and finished it. Such a good story. I need to read it again to give it fair justice and as much as my girls enjoyed it, the five week break in the middle didn't do much for them so I think they need to reread it again in a couple of years for themselves. Apart from my own foibles in getting it read, an excellent read for young or old.
I read “Gilead” last year and just loved it. I heard there was follow up book, so I’ll be on the look out for “Home”.

I concur! I need to re-read Gilead soon, too. Love her writing.
