About

Welcome to the Half-Pint House. I’m Megan and I’ve been keeping this half-pint house since 2003. This pretty much makes me one of the great-great-great-grannies of the blogosphere.

I sum myself up pretty much like this:

Jesus Follower:
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was concieved by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He decended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from where he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the ressurection of the body; and the life everlasting.

Amen.

Wife:
I’ve been married to Craig since December of 1996 – exactly one week after I graduated from college. This is because my dad looked me in the eye right before my freshman year and said, “I will pay for your college education, but you have to finish. You can’t get married until you graduate.” Okay.

Craig is the Mulder to my Scully. He’s the thinker behind Second Drafts and the editor of my own very rough drafts. An online dating service would never have matched us up, but that’s what makes life so interesting. Right? And infuriating. And good. For better and for worse. With or without you.

Amen and amen.

Mama:
Craig and I have four great kids. Really, we do. They aren’t perfect, but whew! Can you imagine how hard it would be to live with four perfect children? All my flaws magnified even more than they currently are? No thanks. They are sweet girls, learning through living. We are heading full force into the tween/teen years and we’re hoping we make it out alive at the end.

Amen and amen and amen.

Freelance Writer:
I think this title is so funny. I defined this elsewhere as “I write for Lance for free.”

Pretty much.

I used to do a lot more of this. My stories have lately been silenced, but I’m attempting to hunt for my voice one again.

Occasional Crafter:
I am an occasional crafter. By occasional I mean that I love to sew and enjoy making some cute things for my shop. But I also have all of the above things going on as well as the things you will see below. This means I don’t get to craft all the time. So I get to do it occasionally.

Hybrid Homeschooler:
This has changed quite a bit as of late. We were a homeschooling family. Then we were a part-time homeschooling family. Now we’re a full time private school family. Hence the hybrid.

Mary Poppins Wannabe:
Y’all, I know I can give off the impression online that I have it all together. It simply isn’t true. I do NOT have it all together, though I really wish I did. I’m a Jill-of-all-trades, but master of only one at a time. I can’t keep up with absolutely everything I both need and want to do absolutely all the time.

Not. possible.

Why the blog?
I write to preserve a tiny piece of our family. I don’t really think blogs will be around by the time my kids are in their 30’s and might care what I had to say while I’m in mine, but I will eventually hit “print all” four times and close the shop for good.

Until then, though, I type away, processing our own version of the simple and profound, chronicling my own process of attempting to walk in the way of the redeemed, taking full advantage of what I know to be a truly amazing free gift of grace.
