Maddie asked earlier if she could read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe all by herself. (Craig’s been reading through the whole series with the girls and they just finished book five last night.) Maddie has developed into quite the little reader this year, but as of yet hasn’t shown any interest in a “real live” chapter book. We said of course she could read it if she wanted to and kind of crossed our fingers waiting to see what would happen.

She’s now in the middle of chapter three and very excited about this. I am too. Bed-time, schmed-time. It’s not every day my 6 year old is going to discover the joy of reading like this.
Woo Hoo! And just now when I went in to check on her she asked me if this counted as “school” time. You betcha! Every single minute of it.

(And now, here’s hoping she doesn’t have to put the book down to make another vomit excursion…)
